A Rant...

The URL I posted is a link to a crazy post by my own opinion; and most likely yours. I found this on Facebook with the title of a “Texas Congress man wants this”. I am so baffled for words I can’t even type; so I’ll begin my rant.

For a Texan…or some other heavily oil polluted state congressman, to suggest that they could “hide” oil drilling and “protect” the land and beauty is a complete lie. I have lived, and will continue to live, in Mammoth Hot Springs which is about five miles from Bunsen Peak. At the top of the peak includes a building to a cell tower for signal for those that choose to use technology. If that “shed” wasn’t there…It would add SOOOO much more to the beauty of the landscape of Yellowstone.

Furthermore, to have a drilling facility in Yellowstone would be like having a stoplight on a two way street. It doesn’t exist and should never exist for the plain reason that it is quite dumb. According to the article it won’t go past the Senate or the President but I think differently.

Look at Alaska and what it has become. If the government wants to give me money for the drilling to work in the FIRST NATIONAL PARK and I can gain more income on that than working in dish pit for the whole year, I would say $*#& that.

The fact that there are “villages” and places to stay in the park is beyond me but a president thought it would be a good idea. I don’t knock that fact. They [U.S. government] have done everything to protect Yellowstone. Why should they give up now? I heard they have oil on Mar’s that is far greater than that of Earth. Perhaps they should spend the money doing that.

Like I said before, the article says it “probably” won’t go past the Senate or President…I hope it stops at Congress. Otherwise a dream I had a couple of months ago will come true and it’s not pretty. I love Yellowstone for many reasons; I meet new people every season but most of the people I meet agree with how things are run by the National Park Service.

They don’t build new buildings because a location in the park is “seen/visited” more, (ex. Lamar Valley). They protect the wildlife as much as they can. They have a man who watches wolves every day and studies them to see their impact on nature and the eco system. They drill holes next to the road to see what’s up. For instance, near Norris, they need to move the road away from some thermal areas because under the road is 400 degree water! Are they going to leave the road there? I assume they will take the old road away from the area so it doesn’t affect the eco system and replace with a new one. Could I be wrong? Sure. Could I be wrong about oil drilling in National
Parks and how they say the can, “hide” it from visitors, no. The fact I can climb up a mountain and see a cellular phone tower…That makes me think, “Hiding an oil rigging contraption of the newest of ages…” will be nowhere to found in a NATIONAL PARK?! Ha!

Contact your Congress. Contact your Senate. Do what’s right.
